Tony Barrios, TLC Representative for Cambridgeshire Freemasons, recently had the pleasure of attending the Charity Extravaganza Ball at Cambridge Freemasons’ Hall, where a fantastic £2,040 was raised to support the purchase of Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) bears across the Province.
The evening was a tremendous success, bringing together Freemasons, families and friends for a night of excellent food, entertainment and fundraising. The venue looked magnificent, and the event was expertly organised by Debbie Bell, Assistant to the Administrator at Cambridge Freemasons’ Hall. Debbie’s hard work, dedication and meticulous attention to detail ensured that everyone enjoyed a memorable evening while raising much-needed funds for a very worthwhile cause.
The money raised will help ensure that children attending hospitals and minor injury units across Cambridgeshire continue to receive a TLC teddy when they need comfort and reassurance most. These special bears provide a source of comfort to young patients facing treatment, examination or emergency care, helping to bring a smile during what can often be a difficult experience.
Cambridgeshire may be one of the smaller masonic Provinces, with just 35 lodges, but its commitment to the TLC scheme has been extraordinary. Since the scheme was introduced, almost 40,000 teddies have been donated to children throughout the county. Demand remains consistently high across the four hospitals served by the Province, demonstrating the continuing value of the scheme and the difference it makes to children and their families.
The TLC initiative also supports a range of healthcare and community organisations connected with children’s care. Earlier this year, an additional 72 teddies were presented to the Paediatric Ward at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where they were warmly received by staff and patients alike. Feedback from healthcare professionals continues to highlight the positive impact these bears have in helping children feel calmer, safer and more secure during stressful situations.
We would like to extend his sincere thanks to Debbie Bell, everyone who attended the Charity Extravaganza Ball, and all those who contributed so generously. Their support will help ensure that TLC teddies remain available for children across Cambridgeshire for years to come.
