Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Volunteers’ Week

We’re really excited to be celebrating Volunteers’ Week as this is a special time to honour the amazing work the volunteers do for Teddies for Loving Care (TLC). Their selfless efforts and dedication are the backbone of the scheme, helping us make a real difference in local communities across England and Wales.

Come join us in celebrating these unsung heroes who make everything we do possible!

At TLC, we’re all about bringing comfort to children and young people in hospitals, and this is only made possible by local Freemasons who volunteer their time. Since we started in 2001, we’ve handed out over 3.5 million teddies to more than 350 hospitals across England and Wales. The incredible TLC volunteers put in countless hours every year to manage the program, deliver bears to hospitals, raise funds, and spread the word through events and talks.

Here’s just a couple of the volunteers who make TLC a reality:

Robbie

Robbie, Secretary of TLC North Wales, is kept very busy with fundraising for his Province. He even ticked off a bucket list item by abseiling to raise money for TLC North Wales.

He was able to raise a fantastic sum of £2562 for his Province which will keep the three major and 12 minor A&E units supplied with teddies as well as the Welsh Air Ambulance and the Domestic Abuse Support Unit (DASU) in Rhyl.

“TLC has kept me very busy since I was asked to get involved, I love everything about this wonderful charity and also met some great friends,” said Robbie.

Keith of TLC Yorkshire, West Riding has a team of 16 volunteers across the Province who he says are the “real unsung heroes of the scheme”. Keith

They support 17 hospitals, three children hospices and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with over 18,000 teddies a year.

“It is without a doubt the most rewarding role and I tell everyone that I have the best job in Freemasonry,” said Keith.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to all of the TLC volunteers, the scheme wouldn’t be possible with you!
