Jez Hyland, APGM and Lincolnshire 2025 Chairman, and his climbing companions, Rob Wright and TLC’s travelling Red Teddy trekked up 5364m or 17,600ft to reach Everest Base Camp in April to raise money for the 2025 Lincolnshire Festival.
The trip got off to a bumpy start after getting stuck in Kathmandu airport for over six hours and eventually making one of the most dangerous landings in a helicopter at Lukla airport.
“Wednesday was a hike to Tenbouche at 12,700 feet. However, we had to descend to a river crossing, which meant 2,880 feet of climbing on the day. It was a tough trek with terrain consisting mainly of steep switchback boulders. On the upside, the weather was perfect and we saw Everest without cover for the first time. The scenery was stunning and these photos probably don’t do justice to what we could see with the naked eye,” said Jez.
Red Teddy made a great companion on the trek which raised an incredible £5,500 so far and have far exceeded their £4,000 target. Click the link to check out their fundraiser: https://donate.givetap.co.uk/f/masonic-charitable-foundation/e0151-lincolnshire-2025-festival/everest-base-camp-challenge
