As part of ‘National Volunteer Week’ we’re giving a big shout out to our TLC volunteers!
Did you know that the TLC initiative is run by Freemasons who give hundreds of hours each year to manage the scheme? Our volunteers, or ‘Teddy Men’ as some people call them, work hard all year round to deliver cuddly bears to hospitals, campaign to raise funds and increase awareness through events and talks.
Whether our volunteers work directly on the scheme or fundraise for new teddy bears, they are all very much valued and bring joy and a smile to children who are going through a difficult time.
There are now 48 TLC charities across England and Wales that provide teddies for distressed children attending local A&E departments. Teddies in many areas also go to minor injuries units, air ambulance, hospices and women’s’ refuge centres. Wherever the teddies go they bring much needed comfort to young children.
Remember to keep an eye on the TLC website as we share stories from across the TLC scheme that celebrate our volunteers and the work of TLC.
A big thank you to the Teddies for Loving Care volunteers!
