TLC Nottinghamshire recently donated their first box of teddies to the wonderful East Midlands charity, Me & Dee.
Me & Dee’s simple mission is to ensure families and children facing life-changing and limiting circumstances are gifted with memories they can treasure.
For fifteen years Me & Dee has given treats and days out to families providing special times that will always be remembered. The charity also recently acquired their own holiday lodge, based at the ‘Sherwood Hideaway’ in Sherwood Forest. Having the lodge has meant that the charity can now offer families a place to enjoy peace, quiet and time to make memories.
The TLC teddies will be given to children as a welcome to the ‘Sherwood Hideaway’ or placed in special ‘Memory Boxes’ to offer comfort to families. In addition, a box of big teddies has been donated to the charity to help with further fundraising and other activities.
TLC Nottinghamshire committee member Barry Woodhead, together with Bill Ashley from Newton Lodge No. 1661, met with CEO and founder Maria Hanson MBE and her partner Mark Harrison to hand over the first box of TLC Teddies. Maria said:
Everyone loves a teddy bear, no matter their age. To be able to give a teddy to every single child within families facing short and uncertain futures together, is just so wonderful for us. Even more wonderful are the beautiful smiles we receive back, in person and in photos. We simply cannot thank you all at TLC enough
Barry Woodhead said:
As soon as we were made aware of the charity and its wonderful work, there was no hesitation in wanting to support in some way. The gift of a teddy bear to a small child in such life circumstances seems inadequate yet becomes so important to the whole family. We are delighted to support their selfless and excellent work
Me & Dee is also supported by the Freemasons from the province of Derbyshire who have recently made a donation to the charity.
